At the heart of SS25: Countryside Escape lies an exploration of classic tweed weaves, particularly patterns like Glen checks and Donegals. These designs have stood the test of time, offering both boldness and subtlety while maintaining a timeless, classic appeal. This balance captures the spirit of the season as well as our overall look and feel. We wanted to present these patterns in a fresh light by pairing them with colours such as executive burgundies, delicate pinks, and soft creams—evoking a lighter feel for spring summer. The collection draws inspiration from a quiet, timeless, and classical approach to the mood, look, and feel, where tradition is celebrated with a touch of modernity coming through the silhouettes and styling.

Our defining silhouettes and styling come to life through the pairing of knitwear with the premium tweed collection across both menswear and womenswear, celebrating the ease and comfort of styling tweed in a relaxed yet refined way. In ladieswear, the new Charli Trousers feature a high waist and wide leg, while in menswear, the Halliday Trousers showcase a similarly voluminous cut. These silhouettes highlight the way tweed fabrics can look stunning and flow beautifully where volume has been introduced.

New coat styles like the Dyce and Dorothy, with their prominent large collars and fitted waists, reflect a shift towards engineered cuts that embrace drama and opulence. These silhouettes, paired with striking Glen check patterns, establish them as standout pieces and highlight the hero patterns of the season. Pattern in tweed—whether windowpane, Glen checks, or other classic motifs—are central to Walkers Slater’s collections as they showcase versatility across not only traditional tailoring like jackets and suits but also outerwear. To balance the bolder statements, we've also incorporated Donegals and plain weaves, offering quieter, more subtle options.

The colours tan, tobacco, and cream served as key inspirations, especially in how they pair with pale blue and navy through shirts and ties. We were drawn to the idea of introducing deep burgundy and delicate pinks to bring both richness and softness to the tweeds, highlighting how well these tones contrast with and elevate traditional fabrics. Exploring classic tweed patterns with rich histories—such as Donegal and Glen checks—was inspiring, particularly when styled with these accent colours. This approach allowed us to reimagine tweed for the modern wardrobe, using timeless patterns as a foundation and layering in contemporary hues to create looks that tell a story of quiet sophistication and effortless luxury. Our goal is to offer our clients both comfort and style—whether dressing for a countryside occasion or relaxing at home.

Burgundy, with its rich and luxurious finish, came to life in the Lyle Cardigan—a classic, executive shade that pairs beautifully with the chestnut tweed of the Edward cut. In contrast, pink was offset with cream and teal blue in the Harris Tweed Edward Jacket, bringing a lighter, more summery tone to the fabric. Once again, our aim was to demonstrate how these colours interact with tweed—an essential part of our identity. For us, it’s all about how colour and pattern harmonise through styling, even in the smallest details like ties and pocket squares, which can lift and enhance tweed by adding complementary tones and subtle contrast. Base colours such as tan, blue, and grey within the tweeds offer a perfect foundation for introducing accent colours, showing how tweed can be styled to achieve a quietly luxurious feel.

This season, unexpected pairings bring fresh energy to classic pieces. In ladieswear, the wide-leg Charli Trousers are balanced by the fitted Virginia Coat, while new tweed kilt skirts styled with twin-set knitwear offer a take on tradition with a modern twist.
In menswear, the Lyle Cardigan is layered over tweed trousers and a matching waistcoat for a relaxed yet smart look that softens the silhouette and adds an easy, removable layer. The Halliday trousers in a cotton finish, paired with the Harris Tweed Edward Jacket and a pink shirt, offer a lighter, summery take on tweed—channeling the preppy Ivy League look of tweed jackets with chinos.
The high-waisted Oscar Trousers in tobacco Donegal, styled with the Edward Jacket and Waistcoat, bring a new dimension to the classic Edward silhouette, with pleats adding volume around the waist. At the core of our styling philosophy is a timeless, traditional aesthetic—anchored in sharp tailoring and heritage tweed patterns. We elevate these looks with knitwear from classic quarter-zips to elegant twin sets.

Tailoring remains at the forefront of our collection, anchored by the classic Edward suit—whether styled as a full three-piece or paired with relaxed men's knitwear such as the Lyle, Braid, or Harold. In womenswear, tailoring comes through in the Iona Harris Tweed Jacket and the Virginia Coat, especially when styled with the wide-leg Charli Trousers. For us, silhouette and cut are key to achieving an elevated look in tweed.
This season, we’ve expanded with standout pieces like the Halliday and Oscar Trousers in menswear, both offering a fuller leg. In womenswear, the Charli Trousers embody this same approach to volume and ease. Pairing tailoring with knitwear allows us to show how classic pieces—such as the Edward—can be reimagined for a more relaxed summer look. In womenswear, we’ve explored waistcoat looks to build layered outfits over shirts as well as paired with a tailored jacket or the new Dionna Shorts.

SS25 Country embodies our core philosophy for those who love and appreciate classiness, tradition, pattern, and detail in quality clothes that withstand time. We feel there's a resurgence in these sensibilities amongst a growing audience. The new archetype of this type of person can be found in everyone, and we aim to be a destination for lasting, well-considered garments engineered through careful craftsmanship. We select patterns and colours which showcase tweed as a fabric that is steeped in heritage and artisan ways and spend time styling these fabrics with knitwear, shirts, and accessories to develop a look of quiet understatement which provides different ways our pieces can be worn. The lifestyle and attitude is relaxed but curated. It's comfortable but also dressy. It's elegant and quiet. It's confident but not overplayed. It's understated with the confidence of someone who appreciates quality, detail and colour.
