Introduction

2024 marks our 35th anniversary, and with this milestone we reflect on the essence and evolution of Walker Slater.

Our commitment remains to champion the heritage and sustainability of tweed and woolen fabrics. The tweed cloth is a beautiful, traditional textile- but the possibilities of its wearable options are vast, and not limited to the traditional. We acknowledge that the clothing needs and styles of individuals are expansive, and aim to broadly deliver across this spectrum while maintaining our core values of Scottish heritage, tailoring excellence, and tweed specialisation.

Our Autumn Winter 2024 Ladieswear Capsule Collection follows nine carefully selected looks from both our country and contemporary collections. Throughout these capsules, we show the flexible nature of tweed applied in both elegant and tailored attire as well as in country and casual outfits. We hope to inspire and engage with the contemporary tweed story through this showcase of the variety of looks that can be achieved through its incorporation, from chic to smart casual to preppy, and more.

Country Collection

Colour becomes a hero element for us this season in Country. We highlight classic patterns of tartan, check, and herringbone to build a foundation of rich blues, warm autumnal tans and browns, and accents of contrasting reds and oranges. These thoughtfully paired hues and patterns come together to achieve a natural country aesthetic with durability at its core through the careful construction of our garments.

The Iona Waistcoat and Cara Trousers in Harris Tweed Herringbone Navy are mixed and matched with a variety of layering options and complimentary fabrics. From the matching Emma and Iona Jackets to the Borders Tweed Deborah skirt or the Harris Tweed Arran Jacket, there is beauty in the traditional matching looks as well as in the various outfits these pieces can be incorporated into. Fairisle knitwear is teamed with mixed patterns and chinos to create a preppy, playful style, and our Shetland Donegal cloth is featured in a 2-piece set with the Marta Coat added as an optional layer. These silhouettes, fabrics, and colours create a collection of country style blended harmoniously with our tailored cuts and sturdy craftsmanship.

Contemporary Collection

In Contemporary we continue to highlight tailoring and suiting with particular focus on excellence in the design and fabrication of our garments, notably the nipped in waist on the jacket and the delicate flow of the trouser cuts.

Lightweight worsted wools as well as flannels make a strong appearance with their clean, tailored aesthetic. These subtle worsted wools are paired with signature pieces like the Virginia Coat in Harris Tweed, pairing new fabrics with classic silhouettes. The Julianne Waistcoat as well as various cashmere wool knits are shown as alternatives to the traditional shirt and tie suiting formula. Versatility remains a theme in our contemporary collection, with traditional looks continuing to allow for adaptation based on individual style and preference.
