Style

Conrad draws inspiration from the "greatcoats" of the First World War. A winter weight predecessor to the iconic trench coat, the greatcoat was designed to keep soldiers warm during blustery winters on the front lines. The large collar and below the knee length keep the wearer sheltered from the wind and rain, while the deep buttoned vent at the back provides mobility. The Adjustable half belt at the back allows the coat to cinched in for more shape or let out, making room for additional layers.

Fit

Conrad is a looser fit, with extended shoulders and an A-line shape. The rear half belt allows the waist to be cinched in when a slimmer silhouette is desired. We would advise taking your regular size for a classic look or one size down for a slimmer look. The coat is approximately mid-calf on a man of average height.

Fabric

Melton wool is a popular cloth for outerwear due to its robust handle and rich texture. Most famously used by the Royal Navy to produce the iconic peacoat, a hardwearing coat designed to keep sailors warm and dry. Wool is first woven into a durable twill weave before being put through a process called ‘napping’ where the fibres of the cloth are raised, creating a fuzzy surface. This surface is then sheared to give Melton wool its characteristic smooth and dense finish.

Fabric Details

  • Weight: Very Heavyweight

  • Outer: 100% Wool

  • Lining: 100% Acetate

Fabric Care

  • Dry clean only.

  • Cool iron.

  • Do not tumble dry.

For small marks, we advise the use of a damp cloth and a small amount of clean water. A clothing brush or lint roller will remove dust or pet hair.

Khaki Conrad Coat
Review by
I purchased this coat a while ago at the old price. It is a lovely looking military-style coat, a great colour and immensely practical. For example, you are able to close the coat right up to the top, the pockets are deep, it has two closing buttons and inside a large poacher's (or paper) pocket, which I personally think should be compulsory on any coat that reaches towards knee level or over. It also has closing buttons at the bottom of the rear for the windy days and a useful half-belt. It is very long so be aware when storing or finding a cover for it . In terms of it, it is roomy, so it is up to you whether to size down or not. If I have some grumbles it would be that quite soon after purchasing and only a few wears one of the closing buttons came off and had to be sewn back on, and I feel that it is perhaps a bit on the light side (around 500grammes) when perhaps around 600 grammes would be a good balance for a mid-weight coat (sometimes you do not always want to "layer up"). As I said, I purchased it at the old price, and feel that now it has perhaps become a bit expensive. overall though, it is a very well thought-out and designed coat.
