Walker Slater, in association with Harris Tweed Hebrides, is delighted to announce the company will be the Official Formalwear Partner for the Scottish Rugby for the next two seasons.

Initially a tailored jacket was designed to be worn by the Scotland national team, Council and Board at official post-match functions. However, this collection has grown over time to incorporate ladies and gents’ garments, as well as accessories. The jackets are also ideal for those cold winter games!

The fabric was custom designed in 2016 by Harris Tweed Hebrides’ Head Designer, Ken Kennedy, who took inspiration from the dark navy base of the national team’s playing jersey, the saltire and the Scottish National flower, the thistle.

Paul Walker, WS Director, expressed his fervour stating, “Walker Slater are delighted to have designed the formal wear collection for Scottish Rugby.

The Harris Tweed Hebrides designed cloth is instantly recognisable featuring the deep navy of the squad’s playing jersey, the blue of the saltire and the purple and green of the Scottish thistle.  The modern cut is expertly tailored to each individual player.”

Harris Tweed is a renowned Scottish heritage fabric, known for its hardwearing and insulative qualities, stamped with the Orb Trademark as representative of its authenticity and traceability. HT is traditionally made from pure virgin wool yarn and woven on a treadle loom at local weaver’s homes, as opposed to a mill. With added elbow grease and a sense of community spirit, this fabric was carefully selected bearing all things in mind, as a further representative of the Scottish Rugby Team’s teamwork and diligence.

The full collection can be found online and in stores.
