Style

The Aird overshirt is a heavy-duty version of our Carrick overshirt. An easy grab and go layer, inspired by vintage military uniforms. Crafted from handwoven Harris Tweed fabric and featuring two large chest pockets, the Aird overshirt has a rugged look and feel that's perfect for a range of casual looks. The full, point collar neatly frames the face and can easily be turned up on blustery days.

 Fit

Aird is a relaxed fit; we would advise taking your usual size or sizing up if you'd like to wear bulky knitwear underneath. The body and sleeves are of a longer length.

 Design Features

  • Full, point collar.
  • Two button adjustable cuffs with gauntlet buttons.
  • Bias-cut, one-piece yoke.
  • Two large patch chest pockets with buttoning flaps.
  • Fully lined.
  • Walker Slater signature horn buttons.

Harris Tweed

Harris Tweed is handwoven from pure virgin wool, in crofts in the Outer Hebrides. The wool is taken from sheep with dense and springy wool, resulting in a resilient and robust heavy-weight tweed. Because it is handwoven, the weave is slightly looser than other tweeds, meaning the fabric has a natural movement to it.

Fabric Details

  • Outer: 100% Wool.
  • Lining: 55% Polyester, 45% Wool.

Fabric Care

  • Cool iron.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not wash.
  • Do not bleach.

For small marks, we advise the use of a damp cloth and a small amount of clean water. A clothing brush or lint roller will remove dust or pet hair.

Tartan

A classic Scottish pattern, tartans are composed of complex and often boldly coloured checks. Historically, the colours used and style of check were unique to local weavers across the country. These designs were passed on generationally and their unique patterns and colours slowly became associated with particular areas and the people living there. Today, tartan makes for a bold, heritage-inspired way to add colour and pattern to a look.
